Near Kolkata and entire Gangetic Delta Farmers farm Jute abundantly . This process is very labour oriented because the long Jute plants need a good care. They needs lots of water body. The plants needs around 3 to 4 months to grow. IT is then cut at the base and dropped in water body tied in bundles for a fortnight. Soaking in water loosens the outer fibre tissue portion of the plant body from the internal kernel part. This Fibre is dried by farmers and is sold to Jute Weaving Mills who convert them into the fabric. It needs a hot humid condition of the Ganges Delta for the jute to obtain its characteristic golden colour. Jute being Natural Plant Fibre is Biodegradable in nature and an excellent Eco-Friendly Product.
Jute Fibre & Fabric Production is very much human effort oriented industry, right from production of fibre to fabric to jute bag making the process involves human force skill. We show you some images of the industry.
